Indeed, all things are spiritual in life. Every experience that you have. Celebrating the angelic end of the year￼, I try to go all out with the weekly feasting, decorations, and rituals. Part of the feasting includes beverages.
I love blending all resources of the Autumn together. Apples and Pumpkins are the greatest of Autumn produce. The have excellent health properties.
Pumpkin is another superfood. It’s good for your eyes with vitamin A, Vitamin E, Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.
Apples have antioxidants and flavonoids. They hold fiber and vitamin c, to name a few. Much of what the pumpkin contains is similar in apples too. However, apples have two things different. Quercetin is a flavonoid, a type of naturally occurring plant chemical that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Pectin is a type of soluble fiber that may help prevent constipation and have an effect on cholesterol. Pectin is also fermented by beneficial bacteria in the colon. The colon stores a lot of toxins that without proper cleansing, can make you sick.
The benefits are rad! Both of these Autumn goods help in cholesterol, heart disease, digestive regulation, natural energy, and are good for the brain. They prevent cancer and general illness! How fantastic.
Both apples and pumpkins have been celebrated for autumn throughout the past. I love both flavors alone or in combos with other ingredients and together. So with the spiritual benefits on your temple the body, we celebrate them for their role in Grianstad, the Angelic end of the year celebration which covers the time through the Autumn equinox up until Halloween/Samhain by making Apple Cider spiked with pumpkin.
Apples represent knowledge, growth, and good health. Pumpkins represent abundance.
Apple Cider, spiked with pumpkin recipe:
Use 6 apples
2 teaspoons of pumpkin purée.
I ground my own apples and so as not to waste the pumpkin that I am carving, I save the guts and separate the seeds. I bake the seeds for a separate snack.
Use cinnamon, allspice and a tinge of sugar. Boil everything together and then strain. Refrigerate for a for a few hours!
That’s for making one glass! Use 6 apples and two tablespoons of pumpkin purée and spices per person that you are serving!
